Coaching: Gurdjieff/de Hartmann: Sacred Dance and Sacred Music

Elan Sicroff has nearly 40 years experience with this music. He was Director of Music at three Fourth Way Schools engaged in practical application of Gurdjieff and J.G. Bennett’s teaching: Sherborne House, England (1973-5); Claymont Society, West Virginia (1977-83); Camp Caravan, Massachusetts (2006). Here he accompanied classes in Sacred Dance (Movements) and instructed students in this art. He has also worked intensively with Guitar Craft (founded by Robert Fripp), applying Gurdjieff’s ideas to group guitar playing. He has given workshops in the US and England, focusing on the Movements music, piano technique, and application of Gurdjieff’s ideas.

In addition, Elan has coached students in the study of the Sacred music composed in collaboration between Gurdjieff and de Hartmann. Here the emphasis is on understanding the musical language, often foreign to Western ears. Technical problems are also addressed.
